An early commitment to quality
Walter Mueller came to Hamilton, Ontario from his native Austria in the late 1970s, working for local meat processers to learn the ins and outs of the business. Then, after working at Springer’s for nearly a decade, Walter bought the business from the Springer family.
What followed was steady growth to a state-of-the-art, federally-registered 55,000 square foot facility that produces 30,000-plus pounds of meat per day.
Today, we offer more than 150 different products. We’re talking everything from cooked bone-in and picnic shoulder hams and pepperoni styxx, to pork and all-beef wieners, smoked bacon, pastrami and more.
Springer’s is still very much a family affair, too. Walter Mueller Jr. has taken over the reigns, while Walter Sr. remains a fixture on the plant floor, keeping a close eye on everything that goes out the door.
Consistency has always been our recipe
We don’t flood the market with short-lived fad foods, and we’ll never race to the bottom on price. Our focus is on consistency and pride on our craft – delivering the same taste and quality today as we did decades ago.
That consistency doesn’t happen by accident, either.
Springer’s has built long-standing relationships with our suppliers – many of whom we’ve worked with for decades.
We use fresh, local, Ontario pork for our hams, sausages and premium deli products. We also source carefully to ensure that every ingredient – down to the spice blends – meets our standards.
The result? People come back to us again and again.
In fact, we regularly hear from families that grow up with Springer’s products and remember the taste years later. Some have even moved across the country and reached out asking where they can get their hands on a ham.
That kind of loyalty is earned one well-crafted product, one family meal and one holiday at a time.
