print Muffaletta
A classic Italian sandwich with a variety of Springer's deli meats. This sandwich offers eight to 10 servings making it perfect for family gatherings.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
Ingredients
1 | loaf crusty Italian or French bread | 1 |
1/4 cup | herb vinaigrette (homemade or store bought) | 50 mL |
1 lb | Springer's deli meats (combination of cappocola, salami, sopressata) | 454 g |
8 oz | sliced provolone cheese | 224 g |
1 cup | sliced roasted bell peppers, drained | 250 mL |
1/4 cup | sliced olives (green and black), drained | 50 mL |
1/4 cup | fresh basil leaves | 50 mL |
1/4 cup | fresh shredded romaine lettuce | 50 mL |
Directions
Slice bread in half lengthwise. Brush inside of both sides of loaf with dressing. Layer meats, cheese, peppers, olives and basil leaves over the bottom half of the loaf. Sprinkle with lettuce and top with other half of loaf and wrap tightly. Refrigerate. Let sandwich marinate for at least one hour and up to one day before cutting into slices to serve.
